CHILDREN AND UV PROTECTION

When it comes to letting the children play outdoors, most parents know how important it is to wear sun cream but the effect that UV Radiation can have on their eyes is often overlooked. Excessive sun exposure can also damage the eyes, which may lead to eye diseases such as photokeratitis and cataracts later in life. To help protect children’s eyes all year round, we now include UV filters on all children’s lenses as standard.

How does an OCT assist in diagnosing Macular Degeneration?

Macular Degeneration is a common condition that usually occurs later on in life. The most common type is slow degeneration of cells at the back of the eye (Atrophy). It leads to the loss of central vision. A common question from patients, explained by our Optometrist Alex… Glaucoma is an eye disease that leads to loss of the retinal nerve fibre layer.
